El camino de santiago
A 14 day guided pilgrimage adventure backpacking 200 miles across Northern Spain
A year ago, I experienced my first 200-mile backpacking journey across northern Spain, walking El Camino de Santiago. People often ask how that came about.
As a stretch therapist, I have a client—who has also become a dear friend. He has been working with me for over four years, since I first opened my small business. he has walked El Camino more than 23 times. He is now 72 years old, and he still backpacks across Spain every year.
During our sessions, he would often thank me for helping his body stay mobile enough to continue these yearly adventures. In return, he would tell me beautiful stories about his experiences on the Camino. Session after session, I listened as he described the landscapes, the people, the reflection, and the transformation that happens along the way.
Then one day he said “It’s your turn to go.” And that, I did..it happened!
he generously shared everything he knew and helped guide me as I prepared for the journey. Walking El Camino became one of the most powerful experiences of my life.
Now, it feels like my turn to share it with others. Why?
Because it is a beautiful, therapeutic, mind-altering, and deeply expansive experience. It opens your inner world in ways that are difficult to explain. My heart feels called to pay it forward.
As I continue building my life’s work with Be Like Agua, a space for growth, healing, and development, I realized something important: a large part of the inspiration for this community space came from the travel experiences I’ve had throughout my life.
I truly believe that traveling the world—immersing ourselves in different cultures and perspectives—is an essential part of our evolution. We are part of a vast and beautiful planet. When we step outside of our familiar environment, our usual routines, and the culture we know, we begin to see humanity—and ourselves—in a much deeper way.
Travel has taught me more than I could ever fully put into words.
If I had to try to describe it, I would say it’s that feeling we can all feel but cannot always place into words…
that quiet, mystical breeze that reminds us there is so much more to life than what meets the eye.
Following that inner compass has led me to many living miracles in my life. My purpose is simply to share what I can, in the best way I know how, while continuing to learn and grow myself.
The moment you learn about El Camino and begin to consider the experience… the Camino has already begun!
